Sadly this is so true and I’ve experienced it myself in various ways throughout my life. Men are friendly and helpful when you’re attractive to them but ignore you (or worse, are downright hostile) when you’re not. And honestly, I can’t tell you which is worse. When I was younger, thinner, more attractive than I am now I was constantly harassed. Sometimes I used it to my advantage but mostly it just made me terribly anxious. I’m already quite introverted so I was uncomfortable a lot. With age and some weight gain I’m just straight up invisible now. But even with that I’ll still get leered at every now and then. It’s really you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. The sweet spot is being completely comfortable in your own skin and being educated on how men behave so you develop that invisible armor that they can’t touch.
