It actually breaks down the mainstream narrative of consent, which never stood to reason to begin with.

Really, once you drink, you are consenting to everything that happens to you until you are sober again. Not like the mainstream narrative, which tries to say that the drunk person somehow cannot consent / agree to anything.

It’s because when you are sober, you are responsible for every decision you make, but getting drunk is a decision that further surrenders accurate decision making. So, when you make the decision to get drunk around people, you are consenting to those people having a large amount of influence and control over you. You’ll probably buy more drinks than you would’ve wanted, engage with more people than you would’ve wanted, but you’ve consented to all of it.

Regret is not the same as not consenting. Two drunk people both consent to everything they do together and to each other, and neither one of them can be blamed for the regrets of the other involved.
