I've already expressed that removing stereotypes of men and normalizing the ability to talk opening and freely about depression or other issues has helped a lot and those are values that feminism pushes.

I was being generic which might not be the best idea, but it's around the idea that if helped a man not get raped or helped prevent his suicide because i was there for them and didn't just call him a bitch, that would be my feminist views helping him. Not sure what you mean but of i wasnt there.

This video and the points he's making are anti-women in so far as that it undermines a movement for their equality and general equality for all persons but generalizing the whole movement to a few people with a bad take on it. Direct hate isn't the only type of hate. Covert hatred can sometimes be worse.

It very much is. I don't doubt that your marriage works for you and I'm happy for that. But men being around other men has an affect on that. Sometimes women aren't in the picture when a kid is growing up, sometimes women have their own internalized misogyny that they further push on boys and young men. An abusive dad, or even a dad that simply is emotionally unavailable to their son can have lasting damage. It very much is a men's problem that needs to be addressed. Men need to help other men and men need to help women help men. Feminism is a group of women saying they want men that are more emotionally aware and available. They don't want men killing themselves because they felt like no one cared about their feelings. Feminism and the ideas about toxic masculinity and what masculinity means for me has greatly changed how i view my emotions and those around me. I've become so much less angry with the world and opened my new doors because of it. Maybe it hasn't helped you, but i maintain, you haven't found the right support group. I can say confidently that as a straight man, feminism has helped me a lot. And the points in this video are very wrong from the experience i have had with it. I'm sorry of your experience wasn't the same. Radical people in general are a big issue. I hope one day you can see past them and your own prejudice of the movement, for what it's really all about.

Sorry, I'm not trying to frame it like that, truly. I'm talking about my experience with it. A support group has really helped me. A few people that don't call me gay when I'm just feeling down, like they have in the past.

You're right though, i don't know you're support network and if you feel comfortable talking about your feeling with them. That has just been my experience with most men who have similar options of feminism. It's not a trick. I think humanist is the same as a feminist. I've spoken with my friends about unfortunate linguistic issue with the name. Feminism is humanism it just started from the inequality that women face so it got the name. It sucks that the naming deters so many and that it's too far along to change it. Makes it harder to separate the humanist-feminists and the radical, crazy ones.
