After a high-profile, horrific case of sexual assault, my best friend from high school (of >6 years) posted something about how all men bear responsibility, using the phrase “not all men, but enough.” I took issue with this and sent her a DM explaining that I think trying to inculpate all men in this issue breaks the conversation and turns egalitarian men who want to protect women’s rights into MGTOWs. When I asked her why it’s okay to blame all men when we don’t blame all Muslims or black people, she she said (paraphrased) “it’s okay to blame all men because men are dominant in society, so it doesn’t affect them.”

Eventually, she blocked me and we haven’t spoken since. Totally blindsided me coming from someone I considered family.
