I am about to help a friend by giving him the Art of War to deal with work issues. Advisable?

It's probably downvoted because it's not about self-improvement, female relationships or sex.

Long story short, the only person responsible for keeping his job is him. If he wants job security, he needs to be irreplaceable. Reading Art of War won't make that happen. Hard work and work ethic makes that happen.

Edit: Also, no matter what, a man could lose his job to any number of hypothetical situations every day. Gotta have a backup plan, savings, etc. Abundance mentality isn't just for pussy.

While some Sun Tzu and Machiavelli (The Prince) can provide general guidance, most people in a bind are looking for something specific. An adviser is more useful than a librarian.

How good are you at leading a conversation? If you can ask the right questions, provide the right hypotheticals, you can lead him to the correct solution. When he looks for more, suggest some books.

If you're not that good, offer a suggestion, and provide an explanation. Ensure you're addressing at least 2-3 steps in advance, so he can see the "chain" the decision will set off. Most people make a short-sighted decision, looking ahead adds legitimacy. Encourage a discussion, talk out the options, and the right path will emerge.
