You won the title ix case, so it seems to me to sue at this point you need to show a tangible loss you have suffered as a result of being wronged by process. The fact you won doesn’t mean you were wronged by the process, the university will argue their finding of not guilty shows they did right by you. Obviously a contingency lawyer will need to feel you were clearly wronged and the resulting loss of being wronged is worth suing over.

There’s an organization called FIRE, you can check out, but from what I’ve seen any lawyers helping out there are helping defend wrongful title ix cases or sue when a student has been wrongfully found guilty and expelled as a result. That’s not your situation. Save Our Sons is another site that may have some information about lawyers.

I feel for you. I know how stressful a wrongful accusation can be even if you are eventually cleared. I know colleges are quick to drag accused students into stressful title ix hearings with no real evidence and the process is often biased against the accused. I’m just saying, since you won, finding a lawyer to take your case on a contingency basis will likely be tough. Consider how many students have been wrongly suspended, a clear, measurable loss who never received the justice they deserved. That said, I wish you all the best, both in finding a lawyer and putting this behind you.

Similarly, I’m answering based on what you’ve shared here. Obviously I don’t know the full extent of what you personally have experienced or the full nature of the loss you feel has resulted.

What was the standard of evidence? Was it clear and convincing or preponderance of the evidence?
