I want to preface this discussion that I am in no means saying that men should be able to dictate whether a woman decides to have a child or that men should be able to make a woman get an abortion. I am only speaking on the legal side of it in terms of being responsible for that child.

As far as I am aware, there is no way for a man to legally get out of being responsible for a child regardless of the situation at hand. I don't mean that men should be able to just get a woman pregnant and leave whenever they want, but specifically in situations where two people have agreed to not have children, the woman gets pregnant, then wants to keep the child.

For me this is a huge fear of mine as I do not have a want to have children at this time and it would most likely cause me to not be able to follow my dream career field. I find it extremely concerning that I could be dating a woman who is on birth control and tells me time and time again that if they got pregnant that they wouldn't keep the child ect. but at any time could either stop taking birth control, or maybe it just happens regardless of her being on BC and she just decides to keep it. At which point I would then be legally responsible for this child in a situation where I was under the impression that children were off the table with this partner.

I just wish that there was some way to basically have a legal agreement that if my partner decided to deceive me in such a way that I wouldn't be legally bound to that child. It seems absurd to me that someone could deceive you and all of the sudden you have a life time commitment on your hands.

I've even had ex's admit that they either thought about trying to baby trap me or actually did try to deceive me which shows to me at least that this is something that actually happens to people.

Again I don't think that I should be able to make a woman give up a child that SHE wants to have. I just don't want to be responsible for a child that was conceived through my partner's deception.
