A short summary for anyone that isn't familar with the NBA.

Ben Simmons, a pretty popular young player, was having some huge confidence issues in the NBA. During these past few months, he has gotten nothing but insults and derogative remarks about how much of a wuss he is. Recently, he came out with how these affected his mental health and how he wanted to change to a new team. The response was even more insults and claims that 'he is making everything up', because a man can't have mental health issues right.

You can see people in the r/NBA subreddit talking about this: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/t9zxmj/ben_simmons_replying_to_a_post_by_barstool_philly/hzym57g/

And you can search up 'ben simmons mental health' to see a million articles slamming him as well.

The point behind making this thread is, how do we feel stuff like this impact MRA? I thought we were making progress in terms of men's mental health. But seeing stuff like this happen right in seconds makes me think - what is going on? Why is it that a man, no matter his size or strength, is immediately shamed at if he comes out for his mental health issues? Whatever happened to accepting it on first look? It makes me depresses and sad. Stuff like this make me afraid to come out of my own issues. Stuff like this may make people even afraid to defend the men with these issues, because every other man is insulting them and you're gonna be the odd one out. Is this just something to get used to for good?
