Context : Today I finally got to start fresh at a new school with my friend. I was really glad to do this, as I had previously seen to be really shy at my previous school, and I wanted to re-invent myself. My friends' girlfriend is at the same school as us, but I didn't hang out with my friend today because I didn't want to be stuck 3rd wheeling. Anyway skip to mid-day when I find out that he has cheated on her, and seeing as the school is majority girls it spread round really fast. He was alone for the rest of the day because of this.

My question: Will hanging out with him ruin my reputation with the other girls in the school, seeing as everyone now knows who he is, and will they associate him with me? Should I let it die down a bit first?

:Me and my friend get along really well, but we aren't like 'bffs' or whatever. Sometimes he frustrates me, and he treats the girls he is with really poorly.
