Good, when I was in high school, and this was a few years ago, this girl I had homeroom with would often talk about how she got pulled over and then she cried, and got out of a ticket. And I would ask her "well, were you speeding?" 'Oh yeah I was totally speeding, I was doing almost 50 in a 30'
[–]vmlinux 67 points68 points69 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I was watching a TikTok of an MP telling his career stories, and he said he always made the decision to give a ticket or not when he hit the lights. That way his ethics wouldn't be swayed either way. Except for one time when the truck driver he pulled over got out of his car, he thought it was going to be a huge altercation, then the driver begs to be allowed to show him why he was speeding. He finally allows it, and the driver uncovers a ton of lobster on ice in the back of his truck. It was apparently a surprise for chow hall, and the ice was almost melted and he was afraid it would spoil if he was late. So the MP just told the truck driver "follow me" and gave him an escort.

That's an actual reason, not 'I cried and I got my way'

Dear god! He didn’t take responsibility for your actions or your emotions??
[–]pissclamato 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Some cops are so entitled. Smh.
[–]lysergic_hermit 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Got pulled over with my sister, she immediately went into hysterics when talking to the cop. I had just sent her a thing about what to do when pulled over and remaining calm is like #1.
Still got a ticket.
[–]LegoJack 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I had a tech who pulled this whenever she was getting written up. I fell for it exactly once. Never again.

I've learned to treat a woman's tears like a man's frown. Not all women are crybabies, but so fucking many just erupt into hysterics at the drop of a hat it's unreal.
[–]comptejete 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh no!
Anyway...
[–]pillow_pete 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Man, I want to be a cop just to do this
[–]StuJayBee 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I want to shoot a scene where you’re a cop getting off on women’s tears.
“Aaaaand your registration is overdue.”
Bwaaaaaa!!!
“Nnnnngh. Oh yeah. That’s it. Just gonna check your tail lights now. You’re crying more? Ohhhh yesssss.”

I cried AND it was my birthday and I still got a ticket.
It was a known speed trap. I was speeding up to switch lanes and pass someone. I went over the limit about 15 mph but was keeping up with traffic. Still...I broke the law.
Cop said he wouldn't add points to my license since he noticed it was my birthday, and that it'll just be a $150 fine. When I called in to pay, the operator laughed and said, "oh yea, he was catching everyone that day!"
Now I drive like a grandma.
[–]KingOfTheP4s 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The important part is that you learned your lesson from the ticket. Tons of other people don't and that's what scares me.
[–]jen_wexxx 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Very true! A driver's licence is a license to kill. We all have a responsibility to be safe on the road.
[–]RunikVarze 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link
Oh, no! Responsibility for committing a crime? How horrible! We should just let her go as fast as she wants, as long as she doesn't have to cry about it!
How about all the people who've lost family members to idiots who "thought they could handle it" and fucked up? Do their more legitimate tears mean nothing?
This lady needs some jail time, if this is how bad she is.

Not all infractions are crimes though
[–]RunikVarze 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Good job. You split a hair. You know what is a crime? Vehicular manslaughter. The involuntary act of ending a life through reckless behavior.
My point stands, because I was very clear about what I said.
[–]Miccoli17 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes I actually took my drivings license. Driving drunk above a certain limit of grams per litre of alcohol is a crime. Driving above a certain speed limit is a crime. You don't need to commit manslaughter for it to be a crime. But at the same time, there are a million things you can do that will get you a fine without it being considered a crime.
Your point is valid, but if you are saying she committed a crime then a pussy pass was still granted, so which is it?
I am all for shutting this behaviour up. She does not get to skip a fine just because she can turn on the crying as fast as one can open a can of beer.
[–]RunikVarze 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I never said she committed a crime. Those are your words. I said she needed a more severe punishment for her lack of remorse. I didn't state it outright in the original post, but I did in the last one and I'm stating it outright now. Thank you, for making this conversation an ordeal by being willfully dense. It's truly been unpleasant. Have a good night.

Weird thing to defend but okay
[+]Miccoli17 -16 points-15 points-14 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I'm just saying you are assuming it was a crime, when it most likely wasn't. Doesn't mean it's ridiculous to expect not to get a ticket just because you are crying
[–]DeathLives4Now 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Most are crimes others are felony level crimes

As you can see, no they are not
[–]GrootThereItIs 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ahh so not a crime if it's not too much over. Just an infraction and a stupid, selfish, dickish thing to do. Thanks for being so pedantic, it really added a lot to the conversation.
[–]Transpatials 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I didn't assume shit. I wasn't the first one you first replied to.
And, you're equally assuming it wasn't.
[–]Miccoli17 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know you weren't. I'm not assuming it wasn't. But at least in my country if you commit a crime while driving you are not going to pay just 200 bucks and still be able to continue your day
[+]foster_remington -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
lol you have no idea what she even got a ticket for you freak
[–]RunikVarze 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Well, she didn't get one for driving responsibly.
What she DID express is that she's angry that the officer gave her a ticket despite her crying.
Here's my take in the raw. If crying were a way to get out of a ticket, nobody would ever get one. Everybody would drive like ass holes, and we'd all just have a box of tissues ready in case we got pulled over.
What she expressed here is not remorse for potentially doing something dangerous while piloting a 2 ton piece of metal on wheels. What she expressed was regret that she got called out on it.
As for whether or not she's guilty? Not my role to say. She can contest it in court.
It's irrelevant to the point I'm making anyway. MY point is that the officer did his job and pulled her over for not following the rules we're all expected to adhere to, at least from his own perspective, and she's a salty little crybaby over it.
So, did you get it that time?
[+]call_the_can_man -10 points-9 points-8 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
way to be a dick
[–]RunikVarze 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Likewise. Did you have anything constructive to say, or just wanted to be an ass hole?
You can call me a dick all you like, but at least give me some reasoning behind it that relates to the conversation. Help me be less dickish.
[–]x-Just4Kickz-x 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
you're in the right my guy, dunno why or how these people can whiteknight defend this chick for her shitty actions.
[–]coocookaboom 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You'd be shocked how much men are willing to humiliate themselves just to white knight for a girl, it's kinda disturbing.
[–]RunikVarze 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you. I don't understand how people see crying as a "get out of jail free" card. It's like some people just never learned how to be an adult.
Crying over a ticket doesn't get you out of the ticket. Contesting it in court does. Being an adult does.
Much like how throwing a tantrum on reddit doesn't convince people to agree with a differing viewpoint. (To the dick above)
[–]foster_remington -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
you said she needs jail time lol
you're still a freak
[–]RunikVarze 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She does. Because she refuses to acknowledge the potential outcome of her actions, and her lack of remorse just goes to show that she's probably gonna do it again. The ticket isn't enough. Clearly she needs a more serious consequence.
Btw, if I'm the freak, why are you the one getting downvotes? Clearly you're in the minority here. So hwve fun letting your freak flag fly.
[–]edgy_and_hates_you 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nothing makes me lose sympathy for someone--man or woman--faster than seeing them cry. Keep that shit in the bedroom.
[–]pattyfrankz 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Meanwhile, I was pulled over a few weeks ago doing 15 over, acted very polite, said “please” and “thank you”, and he let me off with a warning. That doesn’t necessarily represent how I feel about most cops, but I’d gladly toss them some manners (that they probably don’t get too often) if it means avoiding a $200 ticket
[–]dixieStates 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Here's a true story of Male Privilege (®). A CHP officer pulled me over the other day.
Me: Hello, Officer. What's the problem?
Officer: I measured your speed at 75 MPH, you don't have a current registration tag on your license plate, you crossed the double yellow line [into a turn lane] and you're not wearing a seat belt. Could I see your license and registration and proof of insurance, please?
Me: thought bubble --> {Uh-oh, I'm fucked}. Here's my paperwork, the registration tag is in this envelope, how about if I put it on now?
Officer: [looks at my license] Ok, put it on now and get back into your car.
He goes back to his patrol car to run my license and tags and comes back after a few minutes.
Officer: OK, Dixie. Here's your license and registration. Slow down.
He returns to his patrol car and flips a U-ey and drives off.
Oh, yeah. My license says "Veteran"
[–]LegoJack 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
All you had to do was risk death defending your country (and not be a dick to the police officer). Easy peasy.
[–]ArthurHaroldKaneJnr 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'd rather she was crying over being given a ticket than crying with laughter at how gullible the cop was.
