I always want to reshare things like this on fb but most of my friends don’t get why it’s so messed up. It’s like the suffering and death of men is so normalized that it’s invisible. How do people cope? What do you do when you see stuff like this all the time and can’t talk about it?

Can people send me info on the responsibilities of voters before women were allowed the vote? I keep hearing that it was tied to land ownership and military service but all I can find are the “rights” of voting and not what that level of citizenship required of an individual.

The only data presented were 20 men involved in 30 abortions and even in the article she indicates that this is most assuredly an outlier so some men have many abortions. Which is what you'd expect if a minority of men is having sex with the majority of women.

I've never been involved in an abortion but my friend from high school did. First time having sex, freshman year of college. I imagine life would have been much more difficult. As it was she had the abortion and went on to finish school on time and became a successful professional with a very respectable family.

So I see the point of the article. I've even said here that abortion means almost a million men a year are saved child support.

But men should be part of the process as it is our children that are being aborted. Men get short shrift at every level of child care. That has to stop.

So much wrong with that article. A couple big ones:

  1. It fails to mention the so important context that when it comes to abortion, men have no rights. Men can’t lose a right they don’t have.

  2. It similarly fails to mention men can become fathers against their will whether or not abortion is illegal. If a woman deceives me into getting her pregnant so she can get child support from me, it doesn’t matter if abortion is legal or illegal. Either way, I have no say, will be a biological father and will pay child support.

  3. The story forgets the all important point that SCOTUS overturning Roe doesn’t make abortion illegal in the U.S. it leaves it up to states. Some states will make it illegal some won’t. Women in states where it’s illegal can travel to a legal state, they can get an abortion disguised as another purpose, or they can get an illegal abortion. Women will still have options, men still won’t.

The story is guilty of a bias of omission. It talks about men and abortion but omits the most relevant points that apply to men, most namely that regardless of the legality status men have no rights, and can end up being unwanted fathers paying child support either way.

Then don't. Men have no say in it.
