I’m white and male which are deemed as privileges. I’m also gay which is deemed as an absolute non privilege.

While being gay has made my life harder in many ways, I also use being gay to my advantage in many social situations. If I “act more gay” around female strangers, I’m typically treated considerably better. I’m not treated as a threat, they’ll chat with me, I get better service in clothing stores, etc. When women I know find out I’m gay, they open up with me, my emotions are all of the sudden important and my opinions even matter more.

My point is, no “privilege” is absolute. Men have many privileges but women do as well.
