So being affected by alcohol turns sexual predation of a student by a teacher, and abuse of her position of trust, into a minor issue? Being drunk is not a defense for sexual harassment and predatory behaviour by teachers, unless the predator is female and victim is male.

The sexist pigs on the General Teaching Council for Scotland have sent a clear message to female predator in Scottish schools "Green Light"

Yeah but what about the Patriarchy though?! Clearly the Patriarchy is to blame?! Not this poor, innocent woman! /s

The feminists/FDS reactions :

  • "It doesn't have the same lasting damage than the opposite"
  • "It is not the same because men are privileged and are not oppressed like women"
  • "At least he will know what it is like to be a woman (ie cosntantly assaulted)"
  • "It is not institutional/systemic"
  • "Every boy would be happy"
  • "He should feel good/grateful about being deemed attractive by a women"
  • "Women don't do this because of lust, objectification, sexism, etc. but because of passion/love"

Men do it - it's systemic and societal

Women do it - it's just some odd bad apples

And magically it impacts the the experience of the victims...

I believe that in the pubs I was drinking two drinks at a time and in
the club I was drinking shots but I can’t be sure I remember drinking
the shots.

...

How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to pass the test? -- Prince Phillip to Scottish Driving instructors.

Seriously, though, other students were around questioning this and she told them to eff-off.

I'd take offence to that Prince Phillip gaff if it wasn't true 😂

“Did I annoy him that night? Yes, and was he the one who allegedly stopped the events? yes, but no I don’t think it caused him long lasting emotional damage." - Oh that's fine. As long as in her opinion it didn't cause him long lasting emotional damage /s

Ok, so male teachers can kiss and grind on their female students, if they're "really drunk".

Got it

Wow what a day, we finally have confirmation that magic is real! Magical alcohol that removes women's responsibility for their behavior but leaves men's responsibility for their behavior intact.

I really hope her husband divorced her.

And yes, the excuses made for her reprehensible behavior are disgusting. Men are never given the same benefit of the doubt for their alcohol-fueled stupidity.

i feel like i don't even need to tell you what would happen if genders were reversed. we all know what would happen anyway

It’s different bc she’s a woman.

Why are 17 yo’s at night clubs. Very weird. Illegal in America.

[–]HyakuBikki 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why u decide to focus on the kid being the one in the wrong instead of the pedophile teacher taking advantage of him :/

Because she's a feminist troll.

Can't be outraged and asking why the rules to protect this minor, by barring entry in the first place, wasn't followed?

nice victim blaming

I'm annoyed to see how much this got down voted. Dude's just asking a question.

You have to be 18 here in the UK to buy alcohol and to enter a night club. I'm surprised he got in. I turned up with legit ID the bouncer was ignorant of and got rejected. Meanwhile every weekend I'd see underage girls they clearly don't care about. - Must be that Patriarchy at it again /s

I’ve come to expect this on this sub. I think a lot of men here to get really upset when a girl misrepresent herself by her age on Tinder and men get in trouble, this is kind of the same thing. If a teacher is inebriated and she’s in a nightclub, I would think that she would assume that anyone in there is 18 or older. If he has a fake ID, how is she even know what his age was. Thank you for being one of the only logical ones on this sub Reddit.

[–]ct3bo[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm not a fan of bullshit. You make good points. I hate the double standards there are between men and women but I also can't stand the way Reddit/the Internet has turned out. Thanks for asking your questions and making your points. I can't speak for everyone on this sub but some counter viewpoints can help form a constructive discussion. Otherwise this would just be the male equivalent of a modern feminist sub, bitching about the other sex.

I still feel that the teacher would not get away with this if the sexes were reversed. So I do stand by sharing the post but I can't disagree that when we're all drunk, there is supposed to be a level of "safety" and "security" we expect of an establishment like a night club. It's not natural to ask someone for ID to in general when you flirt with them (and more) on a night out, never mind something the average person would think of after "a few" drinks. The fact that the law states 18+ for night clubs, you'd expect the bouncers to do their jobs properly. - What sort of toxic culture have we become if we're expected to be IDing every person we flirt with inside a night club?

[–]maryhartman000 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I do remember coming to clubs when I was younger, and I was always Aidid and you had to be 19 years old at that time or now it’s 21 years old. It was a serious crime if you did not ask for an ID, but then again I’m in America and I’m in a southern state. So if I was in a nightclub and I was 21 for example and there happen to be a 16-year-old for example, and I found out that he was 16, I would be very upset, and I would think how on earth did he get into this club if he’s only 16. We have to make natural assumptions in many situations, but nowadays, for both men and women it’s critical to get some type of ID recorded. Because, it can lead to a lot of problems. To be honest with you if it was a male teacher who was 30 and a female student in the UK, I don’t think he would lose his job. I think he would’ve been reprimanded in the same way. Again there was no sexual activity, it was a kiss and holding hands, which is highly inappropriate for a teacher to do that with a student, but it was not at school and the age of consent in England is 16, so there’s no odd pedophilia going on. Now if that happened in America, I can’t say what would happen, both the woman and the man would’ve probably lost their jobs. And no getting drunk is not an excuse. But both men and women lie about their age is now, egg and it can be a huge problem. Anyway thanks for being a voice of reason on this sub Reddit.

It's 18 if the adult is in a position of trust to the minor eg. a teacher but I understand your point. She didn't, as far as we know, intentionally approach an old student, knowing his true age and then have her wicked way with him.

[–]maryhartman000 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Correct, he was at a club, she was at a club, years after she had ever even taught him from what I understand. It’s not like it was a current teacher I don’t believe. I’d have to read the article again, but I don’t think she had any ill intentions, and I hate to say this but I don’t think holding someone’s hand or giving them a little pack is going to damage this person for the rest of his entire life. And if you reverse the roles if a male teacher of 30 held the hand of a 17-year-old girl and gave her a peck I don’t think she’s going to be damaged for life.

Ashley McConnell had been fighting for weeks to keep her job

Cry more. She is lucky to still have a job given how she has acted. A man wouldn't. Stop trying to turn people into victims just because they are women.
