As of yesterday due to my health deterioration and my benefits being decreased whilst food and fuel go through the roof I was declared bankrupt. Obviously thete are more factors to it than just the abhorrent decrease on benefits and the insane cost of living crisis, I had few debts no more than £4000 personal debt however I had £37000 in fraudulent debt from my ex and £57699 from a solicitor who A failed to represent me properly in family court B failed to apply for legal aid and C lied to every investigation into the situation. I tried to get an IVA as I felt obligations to my few creditors who I was honestly dealing with but the situation is that the solicitor refused my IVA which left no option but bankruptcy. Yes I'm now free of any further financial harm or harassment but I am diabled, a sole parent and very worried about the future now. I'm hoping that is the last I will have to deal with my ex and her fraudulent behaviour and I'm relived that that solicitor is now being investigated by the government as to his ethics breach. Only time will tell how I recover from all of this but I'm so very concerned about the coming winter and years. I hope everyone is finding a safe way forward during this time of uncertainty.
