In a society such as ours which promotes equality, there may obviously be some measures required to be enacted to ensure the effectuation of that equality. But those measures ensured to enable non-discrimination, equality of pay and opportunity, need not be restricted there. For men and women are different, having different talents and attributes. And while it is true that physically, for the most part, men have an advantage, it is also true that in areas of sexuality, woman have a significant advantage. This advantage ensures that women are usually the beneficiaries of sexual labour.
Laws of consent limit the significance of the male advantage, but do nothing to alter the balance of power as it corresponds to sexuality, either in the household or in the social world.
I propose 3 principles to solve the problem of the comparative disadvantage of men in sexual affairs.
-
It requires recognition that social contracts be subject to the scrutiny of the courts. That individuals who gain coercively, or unfairly, by their sexual labour be required to disgorge any inequitably attained earnings as a result.
-
It would require that gains through sexual labour be taxed by the government. Why though women gain significant benefits from their labour is that income not taxed like any other income?
-
It requires measures to ensure an equal bargaining position between the sexes as it corresponds to sexual engagement. It could involve measures on social dating apps to level the playing field between men.
