I'm innocent. In the police statement she gave in 4k, surround camera with surround microphone at the police station, she admitted that she would hit me. Police, my lawyer etc didn't give a sht and still dont and i was arrested. I was at work when I was arrested, I hadnt seen the ex in a week. The police just called me and said that they wanted to speak with me and asked where I was, didn't say about what just that It was important and to stay at work. Was waiting for them outside and they came and handcuffed me and everything in front of basically everyone.

I carry some prescription medicine with me all all times and I was suppose to take a pill while in jail - the cops said no to that. They made sure to make fun of a couple of times. Also when I was being released they made sure repeat nice and loud what I was accused off so the other prisoners knew.

No prior interactions with police so they released me after 12 ish hrs at 1am and it was raining and I didn't so much as have a jacket. A restraining order was applied to me, so had no home to return to. All my money was in a joint acct with the ex and cops strongly implied i'm not allowed to access it. The cops said to go to a homeless shelter - homeless shelter doesn't take new clients at 1am. Which they must have known, got soaked on the walk there. Long story short, my ID was at home, so had no ID, so no way to access bank accounts or anything.

Was homeless for 2 months, was mugged twice while homeless. Nearly got arrested for squatting in a abandon buildings with some other homeless people a few times. One of the homeless friends later relapsed and died from a fentayl overdose, no one was around when he died. He had a dog that was left behind on this world. Some shelters have ID requirements, some shelters only let you stay for 1 week, some have people tweaking and withdrawing from god knows what and they're screaming bloody murder all night long, and I couldnt sleep well through that. A random kind pharmacist was sympathetic and gave me a 7 days of my prescription for free, but after that wasn't able to take my meds.

Lost 50 000 from being banned from my former joint bank acct, working minimum wage work now and have to pay 15 000$ for my lawyer - who has given me no legal advice. Never could qualify for social assistance due to ID and having money in my former bank account - the other homeless people told me I should have lied about formerly having money, but I didn't know this in advance. Also unable to qualify for legal aid for similar reasons.

I've never met the crown, but my lawyer conveyed to me that that want me to plead guilty - I said no. When i get criminal record check it says "charges pending", which employers are pretty unhappy about and i'm accused of a violent crime against a not cishetman to make it worse.

If anyone else reads this and finds themself in a similar situation, my situation improved by a series of lucky breaks and helpful people - volunteer and paid: It was summer when I was homelss, so no risk of freezing to death. Random church accepted mail for me to get ID, one of the formerly homeless guys got a place and let me stay there, ladies volunteering giving out free food at a church let me paint their house for some money, one of their son's is the same size and age as me and they gave me his clothes and shoes which I used for job interviews, that same church letting me store a small bag of important belongings their, tons of free food from free food events around the city, having friendly homeless people to sleep next to for safety, etc. One of the workers who helped me out later died from suicide.

I'm aware of what I've shared and it wont impact my trial.
