I read the author's original post (https://mobile.twitter.com/iproposethis/status/1580760545656913921) and I definitely didn't get the feeling she disliked marriage, her life, or her husband. Also, all but a few of the points could be read as gender neutral. She just happens to be writing it from a woman's perspective.

There's certainly a good amount of truth here for anyone considering marriage. Love isn't enough to keep a marriage strong- it takes a lot of hard work. It's difficult to balance couple time, family time and personal identity. You're probably going to be shamed at some point for how you act as a parent and spouse. Mental health and marriage counseling are too expensive for many in the US. Romantic feelings and sexual desire ebb and flow over the years.

Mostly the author is saying people are going into marriage with unrealistic expectations because society/media paints it as all roses and butterflies. Which is kinda true. It's always about "happily-ever-after" but never about the day to day realities of making it happen.

For perspective, I'm a woman, married 20 years and regularly refer to my husband as my favorite person on earth.
