So today I logged onto my company VDI for work (already 1st November here) and the background has been changed to something celebrating International Men's Day.

As you can expect I'm quite pleasantly surprised! No way did I think this massive company that gave us a big feminist influenced talk on "gender equality" (read: female prioritization) upon joining would acknowledge international men's day!

Till I read the bit underneath. It basically said along the lines of "Gender Equality is not something men can just ignore. Help us in the fight to achieve it" (rough translation - it wasn't written in English)

Anyway the actual meaning was very clear . "Men don't experience any negative discrimination only women. But men should help us fight for women's shit" (and before anyone says that's reading too much into it, I found out later in an email they have a "men's only" group where the entire theme is to talk about ways men can help women's rights, so yeah).

So in one fell swoop they

  1. Ignored the huge amounts of negative discrimination men face (ironically this is a company with preferential hiring for women too lmao)

  2. Somehow made International Men's Day all about women

Eugh just fuck off. Think I'm going to bunk off work for the rest of the day.
