He has to explain the situation to the police. I don't know if they will help him or not. But in situations like this the longer he waits the worse it will get, or at any whim the girl can go to ANYONE and he's fucked. Unfortunately I don't think many will believe him, due to how the system is set up, but if it was my I would try to talk to the police and explain the whole situation.

I've had nightmares about senarios like this, since there really is no recourse.
