You have two options between these prolific Bollywood actors: Sanjeev Kumar and Dharam Singh Deol (Popularly known as Dharmendra, the He man of Bollywood).

Sanjeev Kumar was a known womanizer, who would refer to his girlfriends (some of them his co-stars) as number one, number two…etc in public and private. One of his co-star affairs was with someone who was already married to a Naval officer.

Dharmendra, on the other hand, was a big family man. He valued family so much so that he had two of them. He got married to his first wife through an arranged marriage when they were both 19. They had 4 children together, the first born being the iconic Sunny Deol, who was the biggest Bollywood action hero in the 90s. Once Dharmendra became a well-established actor, he had an affair with his co-star Hema Malini (who was known as Bollywood’s dream girl). He wanted to divorce his first wife, but she didn’t accept it due to religious reasons, so he decided to nominally convert to Islam because according to Indian law, Muslims are allowed to follow their own religious law which allow up to 4 wives, while Hindus and other religions have to follow secular law (Hindu Code Bills of 1950 🤮). Hema Malini nominally converted as well and they got married in 1980 and had two children. Dharmendra’s son Sunny was very angry about this, but that did not stop him from nearly following in his father’s footsteps.

In 1983, Sunny’s first movie came out. Sunny had actually gotten married before then, but Dharmendra had it covered up because he wanted to present Sunny as a young eligible bachelor to his female audience members (he was a romantic hero before he started doing action movies and became famous for his yelling).

He openly dated his co-star from his first movie named Amrita Singh while he was married, and was planning to marry her too by doing the same thing his father did. When the news came out that Sunny was already married, his co-star immediately ended the relationship. They still acted together though. Sunny then moved on to another one of his co-stars in 1985. He continued to date her while still being married and even after the birth of his two sons. That relationship ended some time in the 2000s, but he is still married to his wife.

His behavior was obviously inspired by his father Dharmendra. But before you call Dharmendra “low-value”, check out this picture of him [left].

So what is the verdict? The womanizer who numbers his girlfriends, or the man who values family above all else?
