I've been thinking about this topic for quite some time now and last couple of days I've also dug into the feminism subreddit and I just can't help but feel that there are some imperfections in there which nobody seems to want to address or even talk about.

First of all let me say that I believe everyone should have equal opportunities and should be treated equally: there should be no difference in value between men and women. I also believe that striving for equality in all aspects of life however, just for the sake of equality, is idiotic imo. E.g.: Men generally speaking have more physical strength so I guess it's nothing more than logical for them to take care of the majority of physical jobs. Women are generally (or at least how I see it) more nurturing than men so I guess it would be logical for women to take care of the majority of nurturing professions.

Feminism is a socio-political movement that aims for equality between the sexes, according to wikipedia. When you look at the etymology however, the term comes from fēminīnus (female in Latin), which was first used as a sense of 'advocacy for women's rights'. Imo, these two meanings cause quite some issues within the daily discussion about feminist topics.

In practice, feminism seems not to be about equality between men and women. In practice, the majority of the feminist topics are about overcoming the disadvantages for women opposed to men: it's about the paygap, it's about the fewer women in the top 100 professional positions, it's about women feeling unsafe in the dark because of men, etc. Don't get me wrong, these are all issues that should be addressed imo, but the sole focus seems to be on the disadvantages women are experiencing. Feminism is not about the higher suicide-rate among men, not about physical issues men are dealing with after years of road work, not about the obligation of men to 'fight for their country' (while women can flee), etc.

When discussing this imperfection of feminism with feminists, we immediately get slandered for being an anti-feminist and we don't want equality between men and women etc., because then it's convenient for them to tell that feminsim is about 'equality between men and women' instead of 'advocating for women's rights', even though practice shows the contrary (I mean, the word is feminism ; if it should all be equal, guess the word masculism can be used in the same fashion? Don't think so.) Every discussion with feminists, where I've tried to address these issues, I get ridiculed and slandered: there is no room for discussing/criticizing these topics and I get disregarded with terms like white-men-privilege, misogynist, etc.

While feminists advocate for women's rights, many of the issues addressed by them are not seen by me. I mean, I get that 100 years ago, women didn't have the right to vote (depening on the country), women didn't have the right to study, etc. Now, I'm sure there are differences when looking at the top 100 jobs and when looking at the male and female averages, but I'm not dealing with the top 100 jobs, nor the male/female averages, so FOR ME I don't see their issues. This doesn't mean that they don't see it and that they don't exist and they shouldn't fight for it, but in my daily life, I don't see them.

What I DO see in daily life, is majority of depressed people being men, is men having issues with their self-esteem, with talking about emotions, with men's lack of acknowledgement, with men's opinion on topics like these being less important than women's, men being misogynists when having an opinion, etc. These topics are things that I see on a daily basis.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that each and everyone of us is dealing with issues because of their gender, race, intelligence or whatever and that the issue with one group should not be inferior to the issues of another group. These are all issues we're dealing with in our everyday lives, so we are emotionally invested in these topics, making it difficult to remain rational within discussions about them.

The fact that feminists disregard masculine issues from their self-proclaimed moral high ground, is very bad imo and is counterproductive for the discussion of the topic. If there isn't any room for discussion about feminism, the lack of masculine issues and when opposing opinions get slandered, it becomes a dangereous ideology imo. People who disagree with the current form will only get more emotional about the topic; feminists will only get more emotionally involved in the topic, and all room for discussion is gone. The only logical response is for an (extreme) opposing group to emerge, resulting in polarization and hatred between people who, in a very basic sense, may not feel so different about the topic in the first place.

It would be nice if everyone would be open to discuss the topics as adults, so we will understand each other better and make the world a better place.
