Recently I took the advice of avoiding arguments with women like the plague with tactics like fogging, agree and amplify and walking the fuck out. This has helped drastically in some situations but in others I feel like it doesn't at all.

I get into conversations with my gf sometimes, not necessarily arguments but the conversations get emotional. Sometimes, probably because I'm a bit of a tit I upset my girlfriend with the things I say.

Example: I was washing my shoes with a dish cloth and my gf had a go at me for using the dish cloth (since it should have only been used for dishes) It pissed me off and I just simply said "Stop talking to me" which really upset her. She wasn't phased by the dish cloth thing it was what I said. She said it was rude and hurtful and I shouldn't talk to my gf like that. I tried for a while to stay chilled but things just got progressively worse so I told her: I was out of order for saying what I said Sorry for being an arsehole I never at any point showed any emotion. I'm getting pretty good at this.

I admitted I was wrong and self deprecated and I know self deprecating should also be avoided like the plague

But alas I'll round this up because I'd appreciate any advice since I feel like I'm misinterpreting certain things

When should I admit that I've done something wrong and apologise?

And is self deprecation fine when you've acted like a complete twat?

Honestly I think I wouldn't run into these problems if I didn't speak my mind so much, so generally what should I avoid saying to avoid upsetting my gf?
