I'd check your sources then check your head. If you're amicable and trusting enough now to be willing to spend another two years of marriage (assuming you're legally correct), then you're amicable enough to get the divorce filed, done and dusted at minimal costs.

And as for this "if either of us decide to remarry before the 2 years is up" - is just a timebomb waiting for the one who wants to get married first. Things change. People change. If you want the divorce now, get it now.

Additional concerns would be how you legally mark the separation period and what happens to joint property during that time. Again, assuming that the two years to undo a common law marriage without needing to file a divorce is a real thing.

An informal marriage is as valid as a ceremonial marriage, and a divorce must be obtained to end it. However, if a claim of informal marriage is not made within two years of the date the relationship ended, there is a rebuttable presumption that there was no agreement made.
