FYI, I don’t have a dog in this fight - I’m in a long term relationship and am a gym rat who’s a healthy weight so I want to be as objective as possible about this.
I understand that fat people are less attractive because we are wired to desire someone who is healthy and can give us healthy offspring. That’s all fine and dandy, you cannot guilt trip someone into fancying you and I have an issue with those in the “body positive” movement who equate it to discrimination.
Just from my experience - when women aren’t attracted to big men, there’s never any hatred, it’s merely just “yeah they’re not my type I prefer XYZ”. But there is a lot more vitriol directed at fat women. They are way more insulting phrases reserved for fat women than there are for fat men, they are more likely to be made fun of and bullied.
One time I was at a festival and I saw a couple guys go up to a fat girl and ask her what she rated herself out of ten, she brushed them off and said “10” in a jokey manner, and they laughed in her face. I felt awful for her because you could see how hurt she was, she just wanted to have fun with her friends and not be ambushed by random guys insulting her looks. I can’t imagine girls ever doing this to a fat guy, I’m not saying it’s never happened, but it’s less likely.
