It's pretty well known that a lot of domestic abuse is reciprocal. Around 40% of women in shelters are innocent victims - 60% also commit abuse. In a sense, both partners' desire for violence backfires on them.

What are the analogous stats for men? I intuitively assume that they are less likely to defend themselves because of the never-hit-a-girl attitude, but I'd like some evidence pro or contra.
