This is a really interesting story, but not as interesting as questions I'd like to ask of the author, Stephanie Mencimer usually a staff writer at MoJo and I would have expected a bog standard any amount of intoxication means rape sort of feminist.

So I have a lot of questions of her regarding this article, feminism, intoxication, consent, rape, rape culture, and false accusations and how her attitudes about this have changed over the years.

It will be illuminating to see what happens to this story as it moves through the usual places: Salon, Slate, Jezebel, the Guardian, Mother Jones, Raw Story, etc. Will they pick it up? Will they ignore it, or diminish it? How will Marcotte react?

Place your bets gentlemen.

(I personally think that Mencimer being attached to MoJo, she'll get off again relatively scot free and the story will either be ignored or diminished -- see false rape accusations are found out and don't ruin lives!)

Stephanie Mencimer really deserves kudos for writing this story, it took a lot of integrity as human, as journalist, and as feminist to do so.

I read just about half of it. But May I just point out this parts.

Jones: nitially, she told an Army doctor who examined her, and a woman from KBR’s human relations department, that she was in her room when a bunch of firefighters knocked on the door, came in, and offered her a drink. After taking a few sips, she said, she blacked out and then woke up the next morning bruised and bleeding.

Jones: Later, on other occasions and in her public appearances, she described going to a party with her coworkers, having two sips of a drink, and remembering nothing else until she woke up the next morning bleeding and bruised with a naked man in her bunk.

I remember all of the media hooplah about this case. I also remember not hearing anything about the trial. This was an interesting read that puts into perspective how black can be white, up can be down, and regret can be rape.
