I've got to give him a bit of credit. I don't think people are truly understanding his point. He doesn't feel safe helping someone because he is a afraid of being considering a perpetrator simply for being a man in the wrong place at the wrong time. When he was in his 20s he was of the opinion that he was in the right place at the right time to help that woman, but now he feels that if the same situation happened, he would be afraid of having the finger pointed at him rather than the real culprit.

It's a fear of being the victim of a witch hunt. Obviously his fear is irrational and not at all how we should be viewing the world. But it's something i can relate to.
