I actually dared my ex to call the police after she threatened to call them.. Well I ended up in jail for the night.. the next day I was homeless and broke because I paid the rent with my paycheck only a couple days prior. If you are a man do not call the police you will be suspect immediately in any "domestic" related call. All she has to do is "point the finger" so to speak and your done. EDIT: I was lucky.. she actually didn't press any false charge against me because I had seen her do it to others. Well to be honest.. IDK if she did press false charges against others.. I wasn't there but I question her integrity based on what happened that night a lot.

I reported violence in the home: the two (male) cops looked at me like I was from fucking mars. Then they told me they'd have to arrest me if "she" made the statement that I was violent. They pretty much stated that I would be the one to get arrested and she would walk free, even though I had the hospital records to back me up (she had none).

Nobody will believe you. At best they will assume the violence was two-way, and that as a male, you were never in jeopardy of being "really hurt or anything".

Talk to anyone about it and they will make the same assumptions as the cops - only worse. Shit like "Why don't you just hit her back" was common - before I learned to never, ever talk about it to anyone besides my therapist, who helped me see the light and leave for good.

Considering it's written into policy and law to blame men, I'd say yeah.

Traditional values dictated that men abuse, women were abused. Never the other way around.

Feminists worked to codify this in to law via VAWA and the duluth model and to firmly establish this in culture as a progressive notion (teach men not to . . . ).

It's no wonder that boys/men when getting this propaganda hammered in to their heads from every angle since birth took some of it to heart.
