My advice would be to focus your paper on a more concrete topic. Are North American men "second-class citizens" is an entirely subjective question. No one can accurately define what those words mean.

A better approach would be to focus on something more tangible. You could write about the wage gap, and deconstruct the myth by pointing out all of the factors that are not accounted for (see Warrenn Farrells "Why Men Earn More").

Alternatively, you might dig up newspaper stories where men are presumed to be paedophiles for no reason other than their being men. Look up stories about the airlines that prohibited unattended children from being seated next to men, or about men who are accused of being stalkers for simply being in parks with their children.

Ideally, you don't want to cram a position like "Men are treated like shit" down people's throats. Instead, you simply show objective evidence, or stories about sympathetic men. Let the reader come to that conclusion on their own. That way the conclusion is 'their' own idea, and not yours. Show them, don't tell them.

Also, there are some great books out there. You need to get the Paul Nathanson Misandry books, because that also includes references for his sources too.

It is worth buying these books if the library you have access too don't have them.
