The Victim Called Police to turn himself in for a Warrant for not paying Child support

Roy Jacobs Jr. was a victim of excessive force and murdered by those paid to serve and protect. His entire family is distraught and saddened by the events.

The victim's nieces are testifying that the knife the man had in the apartment was not in his hands, that it was on a chair behind him, sealed off safely in a case, and that he made no aggressive actions toward the police.

It doesn't seem misleading to me. This hasn't gone to trial, but it sounds like murder. Or do you think a man, with his nieces in the apartment, would invite the police to come to his home only to attack them and put the girls in danger?

This video was uploaded June 2nd, so I am interested in the nearly 4 months since then how the investigation into the killing of Roy Jacobs Junior by deputy Jerad Kiehn has gone. His partner, sheriff Ozzie Knezovich, appears to be defending him and disputing the girls' recollection, but why should we take his word over the girls'?

The other deputies, Scot Nelson and Tanya Walker, were also involved, but police do tend to protect their own, no?

Amber Donges claims they shot from 18ft away and the cops are claiming they shot from 6ft away.

I'm glad that Jerad, Scot and Tanya were placed on administrative leave, but I don't see why they should get paid for it. Will they have to give the money back if Jerad's convicted of murder and they of conspiracy?

The cops claim that Roy had a knife in his hand, and that a woman was on top of him, struggling with him. Who was this mystery woman, exactly? Where's the followup story? Why would the girls lie?

Edit 1: June 4 Spokesman article has a picture of Amber Donges, Roy is described as her uncle, doesn't appear to be one of the younger girls denying the incident in the video.

It also gives the name of his brother who was present:

Jacobs’ brother, Bruce Jacobs, said he witnessed the shooting and called it “way out of line.”

A June 3 KREM article mentions:

Traci Doud and Kaley Jacobs are related to Jacobs and were in the apartment at the time of the incident.

Presuming that Bruce might be the father of Kaley or something along those lines.

Also interesting is this Facebook post although this person who is allegedly Amber mistakes Kiehn's surname as King.

Going back to the Spokesman article...

John Jacobs, the oldest of the six Jacobs siblings, said Roy – whom everyone had nicknamed Roby since he was a kid – had talked earlier in the week of his plans to get drunk and turn himself in.

He said his brother had tried several times to turn himself in on the warrant for missing a child support payment.

Each time he was told the jail was full, according to Jacobs.

Roby's story should be told.

Joanna Jacobs Hey Ron, guess what? That knife, wasn't out. It was still in it's leather case. Wanna talk to someone who SAW it? Traci Jacobs. Talk to her. I'm sick of you running your mouth. Just stop !

I'm not sure what the relationship is between Joanna and Traci but if these are legit names it sounds like family members of Roby and someone reporters should be speaking to.

Some have a broader usage of 'murder' than others. He shot the man in the gut, so he had motive to do so. We're going to need some compelling reason besides malice argued for, I think.

911 calls support what deputies described at the scene.

"Uncle Roy have you lost your mind? What the Hell? Hey, put the knife away," can be heard during one 911 call.

Authorities released a total of three 911 calls. The caller can be heard talking about drinking.

This is what KREM reported about it (along with a 2 minute video), and could potentially change my mind, but regarding those calls, I would prefer if we could match up who the voices belong to. For example, is one of the voice Amber or the other niece?

Listening to the recording I hear, she sounds incredibly calm and irritated about the police being nosy, not someone under duress by a knife-wielding maniac. At first, anyway. Later I'm not clear. A man's voice talks to Roy, which I assume might be the girls' father (Roy's brother) but it doesn't sound like a situation that necessarily meant the guy was an actual danger.

The guy might have been goofing around with a knife, for example, and realized he wasn't being funny, and put it away.

Hearing the call, when combined with what he allegedly said in the first recording (which wasn't included in the video) about leaving a drunken call saying he was unarmed and wanted to be picked up for child support, I can see how the operator and the responding officers could have felt alarmed and like they were entering a hostile situation.

That doesn't mean they actually WERE though. Being told by the operator something like 'he has a knife' they could have entered shouting 'put down the knife' (even if it wasn't out anymore, and back in its case) and shot the man as he stepped forward to explain.

If the girls were lying, WHY would they be lying? What compels us to believe the officer's scenario? They mentioned a woman grappling with Roy as he held a knife. Did either Roy's corpse or the woman he was allegedly wrestling with exhibit any wounds or signs of a struggle?

Edit: this one comment by Brianrbreen says that the girl doing the interview was named Traci Doud. Not sure where the name comes from. Different surname than Amber Donges. Could only one be the niece and the other is a friend?

If Jacobs is the surname I am confused why the niece (whichever that is) wouldn't have the same surname, if they are daughters of the victim's brother.

Edit 2: Spokesman reporter Kaitlin Gillespie mentions the niece confirming his identity was named Kristina Thompson, so I'm left really confused about how many nieces the guy had, how many were present, who ID'd the body, who spoke to the cameras, who was speaking to the 911 operator, etc.

Edit 3: something that just occurred to me about why hearing the first call was important. The KREM reporter says the guy said he didn't have any weapons on him. That could've gone down 2 ways. Either he volunteered the information (which would be suspicious) or the 911 operator ASKED him if he had any, in which case he may have just said 'no' which would not have been suspicious.

Why did KREM omit that call? There were 3, why only play 1?
