The Globe and Mail, and the unrelated Human Rights Watch group, singled out Aboriginal women, probably in an attempt to play off the existing press surrounding the Highway of Tears and human trafficking in Canada -- which has primarily affected Aboriginal women specifically -- but the UN itself did call for a review of violence against Aboriginal people:

“Such comments were made by a range of states, some of them close allies, some not. For example, the United Kingdom, Norway and the Netherlands, as well as Cuba and Iran, recommended that Canada better address Aboriginal Peoples’ concerns,” said an April 2013 Library of Parliament review of the UN review process.

Countries have their rights records reviewed every four years by the Geneva-based UN forum,

when is the US up for review? What is the comment process? I'm sure more than a few divorced fathers would have things to say.
