Now I have another figure — a real figure — that I think is just as horrific. A figure that is just as worthy of galvanising our sympathy and outrage. But it doesn’t.

The figure is this: every 1.7 days another man is added to the 'workplace fatality' list, and there are 2.7 men requiring hospitalization from work related injuries every hour in Australia.

This is a chick's issue.

I'm sure Ken means well, but he falls into the well-worn groove of dumbing down an extremely complex, multifaceted problem to shaming individual men for something they didn't do.

Yeah, it's a bloke's issue. Just like terrorism is a Muslim's issue, or Neo-Nazism is a German's issue, or stealing candy from the corner shop is a kid's issue. Right, Ken?

He should direct his ire where it may benefit - towards his fellow officers, who will frequently come into contact with domestic violence victims, and ensure they have the training and sympathy to deal with it justly and effectively.
