Look, not to get all Al Bundy here...we usually cover more academic subjects on this subreddit, but this is more of a social experiment that I found myself the unwitting subject of.

Now, I don't mean to be crass or blue and I am also not trying to be funny and I know that this has to have happened to other men.

I was out shopping with my lady friend when we passed a, shall we say, "larger woman" and settled into the next aisle over to pick up some laundry detergent. As I grab the detergent I hear a loud farting noise erupt from what could only be the lady on the other aisle. She was the only person over there, so it couldn't have been anyone else.

Immediately, my girlfriend starts to accuse me of being the culprit. Now, we're all adults here and normally this is fodder for terrible sitcoms, I know. However, I noticed two other women giving me the stink eye. (Pun intended) This may sound petty, but this really grinded my gears when I started thinking about it from a gender expectations angle. I will fess up to what is mine but I hate that the default is that the big, dumb man emits the big, dumb farts. The woman weighed easily what I do, if not more! But, of course, there's no way that she could have dealt it.

When you think about it, its this shit that is the genesis of gender discrimination towards men. It starts out with something as stupid as a fart, a harmless joke. The first lesson in how men are disgusting pigs. That Dad is a loud, farting monster and that it is okay to laugh at him. Mom would never fart, women don't do icky things like that!

Sorry if this lower the bar of discussion for this subreddit but this really bothers me and I am left wondering if other men share my sentiments.
