All they were using Doyle for was her image. They weren't looking for the perfect role model, they were looking for someone who would look good on their poster. This is pretty common practice.

Why is finding any and every way to say "Nuh uh, women suck", even if it means revising history; so important to men's rights?

SHe's a female and feminist icon but sadly she worked a short time after the famous photo was taken.

Rosie is a cultural icon, and in my opinion an icon of true equality. We don't see third-wavers demanding quotas for dangerous but essential low-tier labor. That this one particular woman may have quit doesn't matter, because millions of other women were essential to the economic backbone of the US in WWII.

When I was in grade school and we learned about Rosie the Riveter, I thought she was the best, she was so different from my anxiety riddled, stay at home with the kids mom. she seemed so awesome and capable. I secretly wished for a mom like her.
