You could have included the word 'culture' at the end of your quote.

Don't get me wrong, rape culture is BS, and that this could be part of it is laughable, but your title is misleading.

Promotion of violence against women. Which is why Thicke spends most of the video caving in the female dancers' heads with a truncheon. Oh wait that's exactly what does NOT happen in the video and would be, in my humble opinion, a dirty divisive tactic to ensnare people who havent seen it at all but have lots of money & an internalized guilt complex

I consider myself a feminist I guess (by that I mean what I think is the true definition of feminism, being the idea that women and men should be treated equally in all facets). And I also believe in the idea of "rape culture" , but this song certainly isn't an example of "promoting rape culture" and this petition is ridiculous.

All I see from the video is a guy trying to convince a hot "good girl" (aka girl who doesn't have lots of sex apparently) to have sex with him. He is trying to excite her and the girls being naked is just to make sure the focus of the music is men trying to get women to have sex with em.

The idea that this song supports rape culture is ludicrous. Yes, Thicke repeatedly says "I know you want it," but he doesn't say "I'm gonna give it to you whether you want it or not." The entire song seems to be waiting for her response to his advance, and his advance is at least partly brought on because of her actions towards him (one line refers to her grabbing at him). In TI's verse he says he hopes she comes to visit him in Europe, reinforcing the idea that the song is waiting for the woman's response.

I don't at all disagree that the video objectifies women, but if "I know you want it" promotes rape culture, then consider the Pussycat Doll's song Don't Cha:

I know you like me

I know you do

That's why whenever I come around

She's all over you

I know you want it

It's easy to see

And in the back of your mind

I know you should be on with me
