Liverpool FC recognise "Man-up" as an offensive phrase

I too find "man-up" an offensive phrase but for a different reason; it's used to shame and coerce men to do things against their own best interest.

Honestly, I think that this sucks.

I think that the idea of working towards parity in the insult department - for example, it's worth pointing out that calling a man a "dick" or a "cock" or a "prick" is taken to be comparatively and unfairly benign. But does not mean that I suddenly want people to freak out and admonish people for telling a man he's being a "dick" when he's being a dick.

I refuse to support this sort of ridiculous policing of language. Is calling someone a "princess" really that offensive? Do we want the people who obsessively police what we say having more ways to police what we say?

I hate being told to "man up"; but we don't solve anything by kicking people out of soccer games for saying it.
