Why don't you try work experience? You could volunteer some places to get your foot in the door. Or sign up for an apprenticeship and get a trade. Plenty of options beyond what you're planning.

Embellishing isn't the end of the world, but never lie on your resume or job applications. If you're caught you wont just not get the job, but it isn't unusual for companies to talk.

I've done it. It did help a bit. Make up a story that you were in a different country in your teens and worked a few jobs.it's not my fault if you get caught. You don't have to do it. You're young, just show that you're willing to work hard and they will hire.

I wouldn't risk getting caught for a retail or food jobs. They don't usually need any job experience, especially if you're young. Let's put it this way: if you had some/better job experience, you wouldn't be going for those kind of jobs.

Hey dude I'm Aussie too. We're in a bad situation at the moment, job market is flooded... I got my first 2 jobs through friends/family, ask around and see if anyone can put in a good word for you.

As somone who hires frequently .... I will tell you this. Entry level is just that ... entry level, you do not need experience and in most cases I prefer you don't so I will not have managers spending time unlearning bad habits. Just show me you are energetic, articulate and willing to learn/work and you are in .... many traits of RP help you in this area of your life .. apply them.
