This is why I was so grateful that neither of my kids ended up liking sports. I introduced it in case they were interested, but neither took to it.

This frat boy mentality is pretty pervasive throughout team sports. I find it disgusting when in the name of a beehive mentality abuse is encouraged to build reliance. It seems like child abuse. In this case it IS child abuse.

This was rape. It was not bullying. The people who stick up for the rapists and blamed the victim are sick or ignorant. I feel sorry for their kids when they are raped by some sports stars and are told to take it like a man.

My god, this is atrocious. Although this behavior is nothing new, that doesn't make it any less abominable.

I am no feminist but this is clearly the kind of situation in which "toxic masculinity" applies. Traditional gender roles mandate the heirarchical pack mentality, particularly for men, and if you read further into the article you have tons of bystanders saying "this shouldn't be prosecuted because Boys Will Be Boys" and "it'll toughen him up, therefore its okay."

Anyone who thinks that traditional masculinity is all about power and empowerment clearly has a superficial impression of it at best.
