I would say the "women are wonderful" effect has lessened over the years from what it was like say on the 18th or 19th century. I suggest it might be, as well, the idea that women make less violent, capable or dangerous criminals. Or that their role In a crime is diminished due to femaleness somehow.

A lot of times I think they take on the 'mitigating' circumstances of family and children and apply it to female deferents more than male defendants on the idea that women are the primary carers of children.

Returning to a point unmade earlier I just wanted to add that I don't think active ideas of disposability or expendability occurs in race. I agree that other races deaths are cared about less, but I argue for ideas of expendability of other races in my experience - especially as gender expandability comes from ability to carry and give birth to children, which isn't race specific.

Just some thoughts there.

What makes you think that?

I suggest it might be, as well, the idea that women make less violent, capable or dangerous criminals. Or that their role In a crime is diminished due to femaleness somehow.

Or we consider them better people. You lot will twist yourself in to pretzels to explain how a clear privilege for women is really oppression.

Why are you so afraid to admit women are better off than men in many ways?

A lot of times I think they take on the 'mitigating' circumstances of family and children and apply it to female deferents more than male defendants on the idea that women are the primary carers of children.

So let's fix that with default shared custody laws. First feminists will have to stop lobbying against them.

What makes you think that?

I have a personal interest in historical crimes and especially ones that have occurred women, say before the 1940s and from what I've seen this idea of women are incapable or committing crimes due to femaleness has greatly reduced compared to current cases

I think these ideas are linked but it's easier to study and understand concepts such as perceived tendency towards violence than "women's are better" - it's too vague and wide a concept to debate here or in many places which is why, perceived violent natures is something better to discuss.

So let's fix that with default shared custody laws

I don't find default shared custody laws a very good idea for children. No matter what side of the debate you come from, I don't think a child should be automatically "shared" between two parents as it's shown as not as beneficial to a child's psyche as to be live with one parent and to be visited by another - this is the best situation for the child, no matter what parent them live with, mum or dad or who visits. It's about having a sense of "home".

I think in cases where one parent is the better carer (not saying the other parent isn't good - but that one parent is in a situation that is better for a child) the child should go with who would be the better fit parent. That's a case by case question and I don't care who they end up with, mum or dad, I hope they end up in the best situation for the child.

I hope society and culture move on enough that the stats become equal between mum's and dad's being the primary custodian of their child. 50% of children mostly live with their dad. And 50% mostly live with their mum. Rather that 50:50 times splits. I think that is a better marker of true and not forced equality.
