How about instead we focus on roles that women are better at – nurturing talent, managing people and communication – that includes senior management and leadership roles in the tech sector.

Lol. Yes let the males do all the painstaking coding work. The women can just be their bosses!

Yeah let's get the people who don't know what they are talking about to nurture the talent and delegate tasks. Not like knowing what the workers are doing is important for supervisors or for nurturing that talent. Who needs to have the skills to teach others those skills!

I agree with the sentiment of the article but definitely not that line! I do think that to lead, you need to know the tasks beneath you. We had a female head of IT and it was just not a good fit, I think she had a business degree but knew nothing of computers. She also thought the Big Bang Theory was funny bc of all the 'nerds'.

As long as women also make up the majority of the cleaning and cafeteria staff ...

Also, there used to be a time when every middle manager and even many of the more important engineers had a secretary that took care of his schedule and screened all of his communication and took care of most of his standard communication tasks. Imagine the productivity gains by not being interrupted every few minutes.

Or we could (fucking FINALLY) recognise that there's FAR more to ICT than just coding. Like support. Which, shockingly, involves talking to people... you know, COMMUNICATING. Which is exactly what I did for years.

They don't nurture, they don't recognise talent, they can't manage nor communicate.

Except that woman are NOT better at managing people... managing people is hard stressful work.
