These chicks never want to go there, for some odd reason.

Funny you should mention that ..... I have overheard female acquaintances talking about domestic violence stats numerous times and of course, their conclusion was just to blame men.

At which point I have often interjected and said:

It's not that men want to hurt women or that it is their nature, it's more like the more powerful person is more likely to hurt the weaker person in a way that is more severe. Just like women are more likely to kill children than men are, by a factor of about 10 , because women are stronger than children.

This has, without fail, always been met with a brief uncomfortable silence and the women glancing around not exactly knowing what to say... at that point they usually ignore I said that and change the subject. This has not been once or twice, nor five/ten women, this has been many times in my life with many women of differing socio-economic levels.

Basically, you are spot-on.
