Once I maxed out my SMV I found out some girls become very very shy, and almost comes off as dissinterest....
Introverted girls are kinda like betta dudes, they more sensitive and tend to get nervous quicker in contact with a guy they find very attractive.... some of it comes as obviously nervous, which is cute, but sometimes it is the shy/withdraw type
It is similar like betta dudes shoot themselves in the foot around hot chicks due to nervousness
I'd say the "assume she is attracted to you" until you get a clear no, is a good strategy, but with introverted/shy girls a guy with high SMV has to apply a bit more comfort.... (i.e. tone down the alpha/macho thing a bit)

Pursue with your level of interest. If she is interested, she'll reciprocate. If not, she won't. Don't worry about showing interest.

You don't. The best you can do is recognize a few potential signs, or Indicators of Interest (IOI), that I won't list here, you can look into them but the only way to find out for sure is to just go for it (escalate, ask out, whichever is appropriate).
