If you say "3rd wave feminism is totally nuts, but previous waves were great", you cannot criticize any men's issues that date back to before 3rd wave feminism

There was never a great wave of feminism. Egalitarians and the universal suffrage movement got women the vote. The trade unions and human rights/civil rights activists were instrumental in gaining equal wages. All feminists did is whine, others acted, and politicians reacted.

Something can be great and still be flawed. There is a difference between identifying the fact that people should have the right to live independent and be beholden to no one and the white feather campaign.

Just because a number of people here support prior feminist goals and their stated objectives does not mean that we can not criticize them now. To put a limit on when we can point out flaws, is not only to "gatekeep" ideas but also foolish in that even things that are good in moderation can turn toxic if taken too far.
