A college student in my state was accused of rape but was found innocent. The school is under investigation for possibly mishandling the case and we don't have a lot of information on the case, but this paragraph from the newspapers report of it alarmed me.

Why in the world would a judge order an accused person to destroy exonerating evidence? Sue him and the state.

I remember a guy posting anonymously on Reddit a while back, saying that he'd been ordered to destroy exonerating texts and asking for advice on what to do. Not sure if that was in this sub or r/LegalAdvice. All the responses told him to ignore that instruction, because it would be far worse to be convicted of rape than contempt of court.

I wonder if this is the same guy?
