We see the Gillette push and even an academic push by the APA saying that masculinity on a whole is harmful. This makes people, both men and women attribute any of men’s problems to their masculinity. This is not how you encourage people to succeed. Men will thus change become weaker, less resilient and less successful while women will be encouraged to become strong and successful: we see the focus on their empowerment—even in that Gillette ad we see a father telling his daughter (instead of his son) to say “I am strong”. The ad is encouraging focusing on women’s success.
This ad perpetuates harmful stereotypes against men.
Men will continue to go downhill with the institutions and popular culture shaming them while empowering women. This is not conducive to the success of men.
Expect weaker, less resilient, less successful men in the future generations while we have strong empowered women that were artificially modulated by society’s continued focus on women’s success.
Artificially modulating men’s behavior to be less strong, focused on supporting women’s success rather than their own, and not giving them empowerment and encouragement to reach women’s levels in college.
At the same time, we are artificially modulating women’s behavior to become more focused on their own success (rather than helping men succeed) and make them feel empowered to pursue higher levels of education, while we don’t see the same level of activism for men.
Men’s rights is too silent and weak right now.. Gillette will persist with what it does, the APA will continue being allowed to say masculinity on a whole is harmful (imagine someone says “blackness in a whole is harmful”, “femininity” on a whole is harmful. No advancement in men’s rights is at sight while men will continue being abused by society; and the coming generations of boys and men will suffer from it. It’s already starting—apathy, less resilience, less stoicism and less strength.
On the bright side, since Democrats now are increasingly becoming democratic socialists and we may see this push when they are in power again. At that time women will make up the majority of the future well paid careers (due to the current focus on empowerment they are receiving) to pay large taxes so that men are covered financially without having to slave for their work. Socialism might be a welcomed change for the future men who will not be doing the high paid careers that require college degrees. And I say this as someone who doesn’t think democratic socialism will work, but if it does happen, it will benefit those poor boys and men who have been artificially damaged by modern society.
