There's one of the problems: assuming that he must have done something to deserve being abused in the first place. And acting like it makes a difference. No one would ask that if it were a man treating a woman this way

If it were a man treating a woman this way, this video would have been really short with some White Knight intervening early on. And / or it would not have been on r/funny in the first place because people would be outraged, not laughing

The same way pretty much all female-on-male violence, sexual abuse, etc. is considered funny. A combination of negative stereotypes against males (e.g. assuming he was in the wrong), the Women are Wonderful Effect (e.g. assuming she must have a good reason), male disposability in general (people not caring whether or not she had a "reason", because fuck men anyway)

The redeeming thing about this is that at least most of the top comments there are calling it out

Although this is a good post, its title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable.

So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

Because he doesn't appear to in danger, or even bothered, from the perspective of an average person. Perhaps from your perspective, you see an abusive relationship, which might be the case, sure. But most people just see a guy nonchalantly putting up with some craziness and not being bothered by it.

If you want to say "but what if the genders were reversed" then it would be different, because the average person would recognize that the man probably has physical dominance over the woman, making the craziness more dangerous and threatening. This man probably wouldn't feel physically threatened by someone her size. But she would probably feel physically threatened by someone his size.

There you go. That's why its considered funny, and why you don't find it funny. You perceive danger where most people don't.
