Or even an act which may or may not have been committed well in the past. I had a girlfriend who was in the habit of falsely accusing me, even to my face, as a form of personal power trip. At the time, I don't think she was aware that the legal system was being revamped to be in line with her mindset. I would send her articles from America, where this kind of thing was starting to be popular (this was around 2012), saying look, this is what sociopaths do, do you really want to be like these women? I thought it would dissuade her, considering that to this day she is openly anti-feminist. Instead, she used the articles I sent her as an instruction manual. It's hard not to come to the conclusion that the same thing is happening now, on a society-wide scale, and this this is completely deliberate.

It would be instructive to compare this situation to the UFO abduction hysteria. Back in the 80's and 90's, whenever somebody would go on Oprah talking about their alien abduction, there would be hundreds of copycats, inspired to go public with their own story. In contrast to what's going on here, psychologists generally considered the uptick in reports of alien abductions after a widely publicised story to be a discrediting factor.

That may not be an entirely fair assessment. I think sexual assault probably happens a lot more than most people are willing to admit. The problem is, judging solely by my own facebook feed: it's precisely the rapiest people (both male and female) I know who are braying the loudest about how Kavanaugh needs to go down. I'm afraid that the real effect of this is that real rape victims, like real victims of false accusation, will suffer in obscurity as they always have, while the virtue-signallers, fantasists and people with something to hide are busy getting patted on the back as heroes.

Well, my view on this is definitely going to be a minority one, but here is how I see it. I am a Christian*. We live in a society that promotes sexual impropriety of every kind. Whether we're talking about Planned parenthood's recent ad campaign promoting casual sex, or that they're under orders not to report pregnancies of very underage girls, or the fact that incest, scat and BDSM are now the most popular porn categories, the fact that ALL popular media promote casual sex and actively mock the idea of committed relationships, the frequent sex scandals around political and entertainment elites (which almost always go nowhere or end up punishing one or two sacrificial scapegoats), the popularity of 50 shades, the degeneration of Roman catholicism into a big gay orgy with kids and lots of fancy real estate (in fairness, that's been going on for centuries), or the kind of tripe you read on jezebel AND pickup artist sites.

You don't have to view this through a religious lens, necessarily. A lot of psychologists I know feel that this attitude towards sexuality leads to radical alienation and a devaluing of human life.

So, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to say that it's likely that sexual violence really is normalized. One problem is that for the most part, it's precisely the people who are most culpable in promoting it (the catholic church, SJW's, the Clintons) who yell the loudest about it, presumably in the hope that they can pin it on a few scapegoats and go on with their business. Somebody is making all that porn, and a lot of it is of extremely dubious legality. Which means somebody is protecting the people who make it.

*When I say Christian, I realize this means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. By this I mean I believe that good and evil are real, the Shema Yisrael, the Vahavta, the golden rule and the ten commandments are good rules to follow, and Jesus is real. I don't subscribe to any Christian institutions with the possible exception of the anarchist philosopher Jacques Ellul

There's nothing illegal about making porn, as long as the actors are not underage that is. And much of it is made in Ca. There was an article recently that many producers would move elsewhere after a law was passed requiring that condoms be worn.

There is a big problem with teens in porn. Second, there's even less money for porn producers these days than singer-songwriters and amateur novelists, so the vast majority of it is weird amateur stuff with no quality control, probably made by criminal syndicates or snapchatting teenagers.

As far as I know, it's illegal, if not everywhere, then at least in many EU jurisdictions. (And even still, there's a lot of it. At some point, some major jurisdiction passed a law, and suddenly they changed it to "stepsister", presumably to skirt the ban.) I would say there is a pretty clear trend of normalizing darker and darker stuff.

Well, OK. I wasn't trying to be slippery with words. Sexual assault IS sexual violence, though sexual violence is not always sexual assault. I was simply trying to acknowledge that a problem DOES exist, and feminists are actually doing their best to misdirect attention on this issue. That might have been true years ago, but nowadays a very small percentage of what's online is big budget stuff from California. Most of it's not even American. As for why criminal syndicates would be involved in making porn - to be honest, there is a lot I don't understand about how businesses make money in the digital economy. Presumably, at scale, there is money to be made, and advertising, but I don't think the average porn star is making a better paycheck than someone packing groceries at your local tesco. Then of course there are people who do it because they think it's fun.
