But why is she not considered a sex offender? It's still a double standard that she wasn't charged with a sexual assault offense, because--besides it meaning that once she gets out of jail she'll be free to be around children, on school grounds, etc.--it skews the statistics

When female sexual offenders aren't convicted of sexual offenses where a males would be, it leads to a disproportionate representation of male to female sex offenders. People will continue to erroneously believe "nearly everyone who rapes children are men" based on conviction statistics, not because women don't rape children but because they aren't convicted of sexual assault when they do

Sex offences (and this seems to be an anomalous case here, a non-sex offence for an improper sexual relationship) are over-rated. Eight years might be, in my opinion, appropriate for a non-fatal stabbing.

She will be post-wall and starting from zero when she gets out, even if she only does 5 or 6 years. Of course, the penalties for men are even more excessive than the penalties for women, there being even more inequality in this field than most others.
