the report finds that in almost every category there is more female-focused NIH funding than male-focused NIH spending with the totals more than two to one in favor of females ($4.5 billion to $1.5 billion). Now personally I don’t regard this as a terrible “bias” as most spending ($25.7 billion) is for human beings

I bloody do. That's a huge bias.

Article time.

Don't forget the history .... this has been ongoing for decades... and presently there is a massive bias in Other parts of the world with Groups like the UN favouring women over men.

Have a look at this from 2006 - I'm diffing for the originating source which as I recall goes back the the 1990s.

Zica Virus and Chikungunya kill more men than women due to differences in immune systems, but that is not mentioned. Can't have patriarchy theory upset by having the patriarchs more vulnerable to disease.

"Manflu" is a disparaging term that Has Killed. The male immune system is more likely to go into overdrive with cytokine storm and kill. In the UK Coroners have had to cite idiots dismissing men with Manflu as a clear contributing factor in avoidable deaths, even if they had to record it as Natural causes. When a Cytokine Storm hits you need immediate medical support. A simple injection can reverse it and save lives but Delay is deadly.

You know, manflu is one of those phrases that really drives me nuts. It's that thing where a man can't suffer even when he's sick, and it stops them going to hospital...

Would you be willing to write an article on Manflu and those diseases for Menarehuman.com as you seem really knowledgeable about it? It would probably blow some minds to hear all that.

Ah, alright. XD Do you think it's something I should have a go at, in that case?

The misuse of stats and health funding is an area fraught with landmines. As soon as one naughty use of stats and funding is caught it's altered, covered up and not addressed.

You need to be able to articulate not just incidents caught but also what happened next. That takes a lot of time, research and precision and you need to prove EVERYTHING with quality references and citations.

It's easier to show historical underfunding and how it;s changing thanks to fundraising by Movember - how male-centric charities are being set up to deal with Testicular and Prostate cancer.... how research into suicide is being funded through male-centric services such as CALMZone.

To give what you say validity they had better all be public.

Have you set up a Dropbox account form so that media that needs to be referenced can be made available to readers? Works Wonders! Like this one - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qyfrrkc8f74czqz/AACCQjaEyAFNoO4msJs5YZn7a?dl=0

There is a Dropbox Called "Men Are Human DotCom" waiting to be claimed, you just have to ask!

If you are not yet using Mendeley to store, consult, search and reference material I strongly suggest you get with it. https://www.mendeley.com

A Whole Host of info can be found at https://www.mendeley.com/community/mens-rights-data-1/

Have a look at the goodies showing up with a simple google search - https://www.google.com/search?q=mendeley+men%27s+rights

If you need to share video materials Use the 50GB free service at Mega.nz

However - before running about and generating more content you should build more static content get your domain optimised on search engines ... presently you have between 1 and 3 pages which is very poor.

If you type "Mena Are Human" into google you don't show at all - so make sure it's in the meta for EVERY page so it shows up on google

You have 1 book recommendation which is anti-female and you have missed listing a whole hoard of books that are MRA

See lists at Good Reads https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/mens-rights

See Lists at AMAZON

https://www.amazon.com/ideas/amzn1.account.AGJEWVZDC5TD2XLFLXQ4SWFA2BFA/WKNIBV2THLBN

How About Films that either directly or indirectly address Men's Rights?

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls029408830/

Are you able to pull the meta data directly to make the content self generating and updating?

You are running very fast and missing the obvious foundational elements you need. More Haste, Less Speed.

Wow. That's a lot to think about! I'm going to have to go over your suggestions in detail. Sounds like that article would really be better in your hands since you know so much about it.

[From The Archives] 1994

the "medical gender gap," the difference in the quality of care given the two sexes. The reason is that the gap does not favor men. As we have seen, women receive more medical care and benefit more from medical research. The net result is the most important gap of all: seven years, 10 percent of life.

You do understand that NIH funds studies related to pregnancy and childbirth, right? Studies that not only benefit women but also unborn children 50 percent of which are male.

[–]Hadashi_blacksky 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That's only one thing they do, however. What you are saying sounds like cherry picking.

[–]Karissa36 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Obstetrics is a very significant and often complicated area of medicine that affects many people and society in general and has no real corollary in men. Maternal and infant mortality rates in the U.S. are some of the highest in the world. It is disingenuous to claim that this is just cherry picking.

[–]Hadashi_blacksky 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's probably largely to do with a lot of the rest of the world not having to pay to give birth and be treated, but that's a separate issue. I think the problem here is that while what you are saying is a good note, it really doesn't account for that extra $3 billion in funding.

[–]Karissa36 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Three billion is approximately 9 percent of the total 26.7 billion NIH funding.

https://www.npr.org/2017/12/22/572298802/nearly-dying-in-childbirth-why-preventable-complications-are-growing-in-u-s

Childbirth is the leading reason that people go to hospitals, accounting for nearly 12 percent of all U.S. hospital stays in 2014.

Medicaid, which pays for half of all U.S. births

Every year in the U.S., nearly 4 million women give birth, the vast majority without anything going amiss for themselves or their babies. But more than 135 expectant and new mothers a day — or roughly 50,000 a year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — endure dangerous and even life-threatening complications that often leave them wounded, weakened, traumatized, financially devastated, unable to bear more children, or searching in vain for answers about what went wrong.

Each year in the U.S., 700 to 900 women die related to pregnancy and childbirth. But for each of those women who die, up to 70 suffer hemorrhages, organ failure or other significant complications. That amounts to more than 1 percent of all births. The annual cost of these near deaths to women, their families, taxpayers and the health care system runs into billions of dollars.

Several maternal health experts told ProPublica that no researcher or agency has yet calculated the total cost of severe maternal morbidity. Yet the available data suggests it amounts to billions of dollars every year. The cost alone of caring for mothers with pre-eclampsia exceeds $1 billion annually, according to a September 2017 report in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Note that none of the above includes the severely high lifetime medical costs of caring for extremely premature infants and other infants with birth related injuries like cerebral palsy and cognitive disabilities.

https://www.managedcaremag.com/archives/2010/1/how-plans-can-improve-outcomes-and-cut-costs-preterm-infant-care

Over the past 25 years, preterm births have increased more than 35 percent. Today, about one preterm infant is born every minute in the United States.

According to data from the Institute of Medicine, the overall cost of preterm births in the United States is estimated at $26 billion.

http://www.birthinjuryguide.org/cerebral-palsy/costs/

For people with CP, an estimated $9.241 billion accounts for a lifetime of expenses due to the loss of work, loss of work production, and early mortality. An additional $1.175 billion goes to direct medical expenses for hospital stays, therapy, rehabilitation, specialized medical equipment, lifetime care, and doctor visits. Indirect medical expenses cost an average of a little over $1 billion for special education classes and any home or vehicle modifications. A total of $52 billion is the average lifetime business and economic expenses for people with CP.

Do you still think that extra 3 billion in funding for women is too high?

[–]Hadashi_blacksky 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well if it's all accounted for, sure. But my point was more about under-spending on men - who tend to to live far shorter lives.

[–]TheShShCreature 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just another facet of first world life in which women are vastly more privileged than men.
