This question involves a friend and not me but I’d be very curious on this community’s take.

I have a friend, she is a Northern European immigrant living here in an English speaking country married to a local. Self proclaimed feminist. She’s a student and mother to one small child. Did not work when I knew her.

However she seems to have no access to money. She says her husband leaves her her coffee money each morning before work. She gets a five dollar note.

Once when we decided to go out for a snack she had to stop off at his work to get the bank card as she did not have one of her own.

She doesn’t use Uber, her husband gives her cash for a taxi despite it being twice the price. They are not strapped for cash, that I know so it’s not a cost saving measure.

Would anyone else married like to live this way? I’d find it odd never having direct access to money. What if there’s an emergency? Or hell, what if after a stressful day you just want a second coffee or a doughnut?
